As a main carbon fiber manufacturer, Formosa Plastics Corporation (FPC) offers the total solution of carbon fiber composite from virgin CF, waste recycling to recycled CF for clients by building the partnership with recycler CATACK-H.
Collaborating with CATACK-H, carbon fiber composite waste could be sourced from FPC’s factory and clients, and converted into a wide range of recycled products via CATACK-H’s patented process. However, demand for recycled products is high due to the value of corporate social responsibility. More clients and consumers are looking for sustainable materials for innovative application. It will boost the growing market for recycled carbon fiber in the coming future.
Catack-H shows confidence in technology to recycle carbon fiber reinforced polymer
“There are a lot of inquiries from companies in many countries about technology cooperation,” Catack-H CEO Jeong Jin-ho said in an interview with Aju Business Daily. “This is because eco-friendly regulations have been strengthened in major export markets such as Europe and China, making it a major topic to recycle product materials.”
CATACK-H, a South-Korea based start-up recycler is specializing in the recycling of CFRP materials with their environmentally friendly and low-cost decomposition technology. Compared with other existing technologies, the unique technology allows CATACK-H to recover not only high-quality carbon fibers with properties similar to virgin carbon fiber but also the resins used for the manufacturing of CFRPs. The current processing capacity is 1,000 tons of waste, however, as soon as the second facility goes into production in 2022, the amount will increase to around 5,000 tons.
FPC is excited about the opportunity to partner with CATACK-H and make the efforts to achieve a circular economy. The collaboration is a part of FPC’s sustainable strategy and will further advance to the realization of a recycling-based society.
