Song Dewu, chairman of Jilin Chemical Fiber Group, and Zhang Xiaoguang, marketing director of COMAC and chairman of Shanghai Aircraft Manufacturing signed the contract on behalf of both parties.

Tan Wangeng, deputy secretary of the party committee of Comac said during the signing ceremony: “Jilin Chemical Fiber Group has outstanding advantages in the carbon fiber industry chain and is industry-leading. The cooperation between the two parties not only has broad prospects, but also is the responsibility and mission of Comac to play the leading role of a state-owned company. Comac will continue to increase capital and technology investment, strengthen application research and development, drive the development of upstream and downstream enterprises in the large aircraft industry chain, and add impetus to the upgrading of Jilin City’s carbon fiber industry.“

Comac is the main body in implementing the national major special project of medium and large passenger aircraft. The C929 long-range wide-body passenger aircraft is designed with 250-350 seats and a range of 12,000 kilometers. The first domestic wide-body passenger aircraft, it is called the “upgraded version” of the C919 model. It is currently in the design stage and is expected to be put into commercial operation after 2030.

Li Dongsheng, chief engineer of composites at Comac, said at a forum last December in Shanghai that the firm’s previous models like the ARJ21 regional jet used about 2 percent composite materials, mainly in the rear and some minor parts. The C919 single-aisle jet increased this use to about 12 percent, focusing on the tail and the rear section of the fuselage.

“The C929, a twin-aisle long-range jet, marks a significant jump in composite material use, Li Dongsheng pointed out. It will use these materials in over half of its main structure. This approach aligns with competitors like the Airbus 350 and Boeing 787, which also use composites extensively. The main advantages of composite materials are weight reduction, fatigue resistance, corrosion resistance and better design flexibility.” 文章来源:http://shenzhen.chinacompositesexpo.com/en/news-detail-92-14368.html
