On January 18, the government of Anning, Yunnan Province signed an investment agreement on carbon fiber with Chang Sheng (Lang Fang) Technology Co., Ltd. The new program, as the report says, though neither the scale or the amount of invest disclosed, will contribute to the development of local high-end material industry, as an extension to existing petrochemical industry.


Few days later, another agreement on carbon fiber program, drawing an investment of nearly 7.5 million RMB, was reported to conclude between the governments of Chuxiong, Yunnan Province with Yunnan Meineng New Material Co., Ltd. A capacity of 24,000 tons PAN-based carbon fiber will be established in the coming years, 16,000 tons for T700 grade and 8,000 tons for T800 grade.

The two programs come into view at the backdrop of a heating construction wave sweeping across mainland China. With the constant release of newly-added carbon fiber production capacity in 2023, sales price for the touted 21st century material will expect a further dive down.
