Fu Zhengyi, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Ren Lijun, deputy mayor of Luoyang Municipal People's Government and other dignitaries attended the meeting.


The rapid development of China's shipbuilding and marine industry has led to an increasing use of composite materials therein, thanks to its advantages in strength, corrosion resistance and the flexibility of design. Therefore, CSSC approved to establish the Maritime Composite Innovation Center in August, 2024, commissioning Luoyang Ship Material Research institute as primary supporting entity, Wuhan University of Technology and Fudan University as supporting entity, and a full spectrum of other institutes, universities and suppliers. Fu Zhengyi, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, was appointed as the chairman for a first session of the technical committee.

Under the support from CSSC as well as Luoyang Municipal Government, Luoyang Ship Material Research institute has established a leading research and production base for high-end structure-function-integrated materials, prompting the mass application of composite materials.

In the future, Luoyang Ship Material Research institute will continue to focus on the needs of marine equipment construction, accelerate the construction of innovative capabilities in maritime composite, strengthen opening, integration and collaborative innovation, and build a good scientific research ecosystem covering basic research, technological innovation, achievement transformation, and centered on maritime composite design, key basic materials, large-scale structural forming processes, and special testing and evaluation, creating a dynamic innovation highland for maritime composite, and promoting the rapid and high-quality development of the industry.
