China's "Jiutian" Large General UAV Successfully Completes Maiden Flight

This achievement marks a significant breakthrough in China's large UAV technology.


Designed with a "general-purpose platform + modular mission payload" approach, the Jiutian UAV utilizes independently integrated technological innovations to deliver outstanding performance. It features high payload capacity, high operational altitude, broad speed adaptability, and short takeoff and landing capabilities. The UAV measures 16.35 meters in length with a wingspan of 25 meters. With a maximum takeoff weight of 16 tons, it can carry up to 6,000 kilograms of payload and offers an endurance of 12 hours and a ferry range of 7,000 kilometers, positioning it among the top tier of similar products worldwide.

By supporting modular mission payload configurations, the Jiutian UAV can be adapted for a wide range of civilian applications. These include heavy cargo transportation and precision logistics delivery in remote mountainous areas and islands, rapid communication restoration and disaster relief equipment deployment during emergency responses, as well as geographic mapping, disaster assessment, and mineral surveys.

The Jiutian UAV was designed by the First Aircraft Design Institute of the Aviation Industry Corporation of China under the commission of Shaanxi Unmanned Equipment Technology Co., Ltd. Guangwei Composite, a leading enterprise in China's carbon fiber materials sector, provided critical material support for the UAV, contributing advanced technological expertise to the development of China's high-end equipment.

Currently, Guangwei Composite offers comprehensive products and technical services across the entire industrial chain, from carbon fibers and prepregs to composite material products and production equipment.
