Zhao Qian, director of National Key Laboratory on Special Fiber Composites under Sinomatech, is commissioned as a privileged expert on automotive composites.


The establishment marks the entry into a new development phase for bilateral cooperation on advanced composites application in new energy vehicles, featured by strategic upgrade and speed-up development, which will steadfastly boost the technological and application innovation of China’s automotive composite.

Sinomatech has been actively engaged in the industrial development of auto-use heavy tow carbon fiber composite. Taking this chance, the two sides will leverage respective strength, follow a high-quality development strategy, and contribute to the construction of China’s world leading automotive manufacturing industry. The two sides will strengthen cooperation on lightweight design, talent cultivation, industrial innovation, inter-industry exchanges and technological incubation.

According to the agreement, the newly-established laboratory will focus on the following three main topics to realize synergized development, namely 1) heavy-tow carbon fiber’s application in auto parts; 2) recyclable thermoplastic composite’s application in new energy sectors; 3) the application of 1,000 MPa pultrusion composite.

With the further deepening and expansion of bilateral cooperation, in the future, the laboratory will conduct more frontier programs on the development of new type composite and the optimization of production processes.
