On February 3, Changyou Technology announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Changzhou Zhaogeng New Materials Co., Ltd., has signed a core material supply agreement with global wind power leader Envision Energy. Valued at approximately ¥949 million, the contract will run from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2028.

The deal represents a significant milestone for Changyou Technology, equating to over 90% of its total 2024 operating revenue of ¥1.05 billion. In its latest annual report, the company reported ¥420 million in revenue from wind power lightweight sandwich materials—a segment that grew 7.35% year-on-year. The Envision partnership is poised to substantially scale Changyou's core material business, ensuring steady cash flow and profit contributions through 2028.
Core materials are critical to wind turbine performance, typically embedded in leading edges, trailing edges, and shear webs to enhance stiffness, reduce weight, and improve load resistance. Accounting for over 25% of total blade costs—second only to fiber materials—core materials are gaining strategic importance as turbine designs trend toward larger, lighter structures.
Industry forecasts point to strong growth ahead: China's offshore wind capacity additions are projected to surge over 40% year-on-year by 2026, with deep-sea installations driving premium demand. Offshore environments impose particularly rigorous standards on material durability and performance—an area where Changyou has focused its R&D since 2018.
The company's proprietary balsa-alternative composite reduces blade weight by 15–20%, boosting energy efficiency and lowering levelized electricity costs. Further innovation in 2024 yielded corrosion-resistant materials tailored to high-humidity marine conditions, extending operational reliability for offshore projects.
This landmark supply agreement underscores Changyou’s competitive edge in lightweight composite technology and positions the company as a key enabler in China's push toward high-value offshore wind expansion.
