Cathay Biotech's Bio-Based Flooring Solution Powers Chang'an Kaicheng's Robovan Autonomous Delivery Vehicle

SHANGHAI - Amid the dual trends of large-scale smart logistics adoption and industry-wide low-carbon transformation, bio-based materials are emerging as a key enabler for lightweighting and green upgrading in commercial vehicles. Cathay Biotech Inc., leveraging its proprietary synthetic biology industrial technology, has launched a bio-based polyamide composite flooring solution. This innovative product has been successfully integrated into the Chang'an Kaicheng Robovan autonomous delivery vehicle, completed multiple rounds of real-vehicle validation, and is now entering the preparatory stage for large-scale deployment, providing a green and durable interior solution for unmanned logistics terminals.

The bio-based polyamide composite flooring is independently developed by Cathay Biotech. Built upon synthetic biology technology, it combines low carbon emissions with excellent structural performance, making it ideally suited for the high-frequency, heavy-duty usage scenarios typical of logistics vehicles.

Low Carbon & Sustainable: Utilizing renewable biomass raw materials, its carbon emissions are reduced by more than 50% compared to traditional petroleum-based nylons. The material is also recyclable, aligning with the logistics industry's carbon neutrality goals.

Addressing the specific operational characteristics of the Chang'an Kaicheng Robovan - including last-mile delivery, high dispatch frequency, and all-weather operation - Cathay Biotech developed a customized formulation and structural optimization specifically for this logistics flooring. Replacing traditional heavy, corrosion-prone, and rapidly wearing steel flooring, the new bio-based solution delivers comprehensive upgrades.

Through technical collaboration and real-vehicle testing, the project has completed full-process validation. To date, three rounds of sample iteration (A/B/C samples) have been completed, with cumulative delivery of 300 sets of flooring for unmanned logistics vehicles. Real-vehicle operation has proven stable, and the product has passed comprehensive customer acceptance.

The project plans to equip 35,000 vehicles within three years. Furthermore, both parties are currently advancing the signing of a framework contract for 2026, securing a long-term and stable partnership.

This deployment marks a significant practical application of Cathay Biotech's bio-based advanced materials in the intelligent unmanned logistics sector. Leveraging Chang'an Kaicheng's ecosystem resources, Cathay Biotech has successfully completed commercial scenario validation, solidifying its market foundation.
