On the morning of October 10, Jilin Carbon completed interim handover of its relocation and technical upgrade project, the high-performance carbon fiber initiative situated in Longtan Economic Development Zone, Jilin City.

Backed by total investment of RMB 331 million, the development prioritizes production lines for 1K and 3K aerospace-grade polyacrylonitrile (PAN)-based carbon fiber. The output mainly caters to critical national domains such as national defense and aerospace. Rolled out in two phases, the facility includes two carbonization lines plus associated carbon fiber fabric production lines. Upon full ramp-up, it will deliver an annual capacity of 60 tonnes of high-performance carbon fiber. Once fully constructed, the project will further refine the regional new-material industrial chain and reinforce supporting capabilities for high-end manufacturing.

The carbon fiber sector constitutes a pivotal track underpinning high-quality development of the regional industrial economy. Centered on the Economic Development Zone and Longtan District, Jilin City is building a domestic low-cost large-tow carbon fiber manufacturing base by drawing on its two industrial champions, Jilin Petrochemical and Jilin Chemical Fiber. The city targets 390,000 tonnes of PAN precursor capacity and a trillion-yuan full-value-chain output by 2030.
