Gangke, a subsidiary of TISCO, has secured a major advancement in high-end carbon fiber with the successful development of its new-generation M40X-grade high-strength, high-modulus and high-toughness carbon fiber, product grade TG40MX-6K. This follows the launch of its T1100 ultra-high-strength carbon fiber and represents another core technological breakthrough achieved by its R&D team in quick succession. The achievement confirms that the company has fully mastered serial manufacturing technologies for new-generation high-end carbon fiber, elevating its capacity for independent material supply to new heights.

Carbon fiber serves as an indispensable strategic material for aerospace, precision machinery and advanced composites. High-strength and high-modulus carbon fiber, typified by Toray's M40X, is a flagship grade of the world's third-generation high-performance carbon fiber. Characterized by steep technical barriers, this material has long posed a global technical bottleneck: the difficulty of simultaneously improving strength, modulus and toughness. It remains a key focus of domestic substitution efforts for China's advanced materials sector.
Backed by three mature full-process production lines and proprietary manufacturing technologies, TISCO Gangke's R&D team systematically optimized critical processes, including precursor structure control, oxidation, and low-and high-temperature carbonization. The team successfully mitigated the inherent limitations of high-modulus carbon fiber-brittleness and inadequate tensile strength. Trial verifications show TG40MX-6K delivers a tensile strength of 6.0 GPa, elastic modulus of 370 GPa, and stable elongation at break exceeding 1.5%. The balanced combination of high strength, high modulus and high toughness places the product at the domestic cutting-edge level. It satisfies stringent requirements for high stability and reliability for high-end equipment operating under extreme conditions.
The new grade has completed trial production and qualification, passed full-performance testing by an authoritative third-party laboratory, and entered small-batch sampling for key downstream clients to conduct application validation and performance assessment. Moving forward, TISCO Gangke will steadily lock in process parameters and fine-tune industrialization workflows to underpin commercialization.
A senior representative of TISCO Gangke commented that two successive breakthroughs in high-end carbon fiber within a short timeframe demonstrate TISCO's fully established independent innovation capability for the complete suite of core technologies for next-generation carbon fiber. The company will further optimize process workflows collaboratively, accelerate engineering translation and industrial scaling, and continuously strengthen weak points in China's domestic high-end carbon fiber industrial chain. Sustained innovation will fuel high-quality growth across the advanced materials industry.
