SHANGHAI, May 21 - Guangzhou Xujing Technology Co., Ltd. and Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Co., Ltd. have officially signed a cooperation agreement to deepen collaboration in carbon fiber material R&D and industrial application. The partnership aims to drive material performance upgrades and cost optimization through joint technological efforts, accelerating the large-scale adoption of high-performance carbon fiber in advanced manufacturing sectors.

The collaboration leverages the distinct advantages of both companies along the carbon fiber value chain.
Guangzhou Xujing specializes in the application-driven R&D of carbon fiber composite materials, with deep expertise in structural design, molding processes, and mass production. The company is not only a leading global supplier of liquid crystal display (LCD) carriers but also the first domestic manufacturer to receive OEM certification and achieve mass production of carbon fiber wheels. Its products are already deployed in high-precision fields such as LCD panels, semiconductor equipment, new energy vehicles, and the low-altitude economy. With end-to-end industrial service capabilities, Guangzhou Xujing will continue to leverage its strengths in application and manufacturing processes to expand high-value-added application scenarios for high-performance carbon fiber.
Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical, a benchmark player in China's carbon fiber industry, has taken the lead in overcoming the challenges associated with the industrial-scale production of large-tow carbon fiber. The company has built a complete industrial chain system covering precursor, polymerization, carbonization, and finished product formation. Its carbon fiber products are widely used in aerospace, rail transportation, new energy, and other sectors, with production capacity and technical expertise ranking among the top in China. During the partnership, Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical will leverage its robust chemical industry foundation and stable precursor and carbonization capacity to secure material supply and reduce costs.
Combining their respective technical strengths, the two companies have identified three core sectors for focused collaborative efforts: 1) LCD panels and semiconductor equipment: Developing carbon fiber components with high cleanliness, heat resistance, and low outgassing properties; 2) New energy vehicles: Creating lightweight components including carbon fiber wheels, interior and exterior trim parts; 3) Low-altitude economy: Researching and developing carbon fiber structural components suitable for drones, flying cars, and other aerial equipment.
On the technical R&D front, the two parties will jointly optimize material formulations and production processes, rigorously controlling key indicators such as mechanical properties, heat resistance, and dimensional stability. At the same time, they will leverage production line coordination and process adaptation to open cost-reduction channels, lowering the application threshold for high-performance carbon fiber and enabling its adoption across more specialized fields.
This agreement marks a significant milestone in the integration and development of China's domestic carbon fiber industrial chain. Moving forward, the two companies will work together to break through technical bottlenecks and continue advancing domestic carbon fiber toward higher performance, lower costs, and broader applications, injecting strong momentum into the development of China's new materials industry and advanced manufacturing sector.
