On September 12, Xuchuan Chemical (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. officially broke ground on its expansion project for 60,000 tonnes per annum of polyurethane (PU) new materials in Taicang, Jiangsu Province.

The development features new PU production lines with a total investment of RMB 384 million. Upon commissioning, it will enrich domestic supply of premium polyurethane materials, ease supply bottlenecks for selected high-end grades, and reinforce the supporting infrastructure of the PU industrial chain.

The 60,000-tonne annual capacity covers multiple product grades: 13,000 tonnes of high-performance polyester polyol (2,500 tonnes for captive consumption), 3,000 tonnes of polycarbonate polyol, 14,000 tonnes of high-molecular-weight polyester polyol, and 30,000 tonnes of high-performance eco-friendly PU hot-melt adhesives.

Polycarbonate polyol is a premium polyol variant. It exhibits markedly better hydrolysis resistance, weatherability and mechanical properties than conventional polyester polyols, and is mainly applied in high-end synthetic leather, automotive interiors and adhesive systems.
