On February 7, Chengdu hosted the launch ceremony for the Dazhu Bamboo-Fiber Panda Humanoid Robot and the signing of an agreement to establish a bamboo-fiber robot mass production base. The event unveiled "Zhu Da," the world's first humanoid robot to utilize bamboo-fiber composite materials in its load-bearing structure, marking a significant step forward in the integration of high-tech bamboo applications and intelligent manufacturing.

Dazhu County, located in Dazhou City, Sichuan Province, is rich in bamboo resources. The county, whose name is derived from bamboo, boasts approximately 33,333 hectares of bamboo forest with a total stock of nearly 1.5 million tons. This collaboration with the Chengdu Humanoid Robot Innovation Center represents a strategic initiative to transform local ecological advantages into an innovative "AI+" industry.
Designed with the giant panda—a national treasure of China—as its inspiration, "Zhu Da" features a shell and joint modules made from physically extracted bamboo fibers. This innovative material application enhances bending and tensile modulus, improves deformation resistance, and increases overall structural strength. The robot combines lightweight and high-strength physical properties with clear environmental benefits, while also embodying the distinctive cultural identity of Sichuan.
During the ceremony, the Chengdu Humanoid Robot Innovation Center and relevant authorities from Dazhu County signed two key agreements: the Investment Agreement for the Chengdu Humanoid Robot (Dazhou) Dazhu Bamboo-Fiber Robot Mass Production Base and the Dazhu Bamboo-Fiber Robot Purchase Agreement. These signings officially initiate a cooperation project with a total investment of 300 million yuan, now entering the implementation phase.
The mass production base will be developed in two key areas. The first is focused on the production of Panda Robots, including the establishment of a specialized materials R&D center dedicated to advancing bamboo-fiber applications and 3D printing materials, and building a complete manufacturing base for the robots. The second involves the production of integrated motor core components, including production lines for integrated joint modules, specialized motors, and drivers.
Once fully operational, the project is expected to achieve an annual output value exceeding 400 million yuan, contribute over 12 million yuan in annual tax revenue, and create more than 500 local jobs.
